The most attractive features of the island are the sea, the beaches, fly fishing and water sports, and also its image of tranquility and closeness to nature.
There are a total of 152 beaches including those of the Islote de Lobos, which means a total coastal length of 50 km. of white sand and 25 km. of black sand and shingle, reaching the highest figures in all of the Canary Islands.
Bearing in mind that the total coastline of Fuerteventura is 340 km., the percentage taken up by beaches is 22%. The Jandía Península has the greatest number of beaches, with 50% of the total; the municipal area of La Oliva comes second.
