Santiago de Los Caballeros ( CHURCH OF ST. JAMES OF THE KNIGHTS )
This beautiful neoclassical place of worship from the 18th century is home to some extremely valuable works of art, including, notably, several works by Luján Pérez, Alonso Ortega and Roldán. There are also some excellent paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries, as well as numerous sculptures. There is also a famous, green ceramic baptismal font, probably from the 15th century, in which tradition maintains many of the aboriginal inhabitants were baptized after the island was taken by the Spanish. The church organ, with its nearly 5,000 pipes, is the largest and most versatile throughout the Archipelago.
"La Cueva Pintada de Gáldar" (THE PAINTED CAVE)
One of the most important monuments of Canarian prehistory. Several geometrical designs which were drawn by the aboriginal inhabitants in characteristic colours can be admired inside the cave. Painted on the rock with great precision, they have recently had to be restored because of damage caused by damp. Many archaeological objects from the area which have been uncovered in various excavations can also be seen here.
"La Guancha" necropolis, Amagro NATURAL MONUMENT and Galdar mountain .
A little less than 1 km. from Gáldar city can be found the archaeological site of La Guancha, consisting of aboriginal tombs and labyrinths in excellent condition. Also worth a visit are the holy mountains of Amagro and Ajódar (Gáldar Mountain), where the aboriginal inhabitants celebrated their rituals and invocations .
ANTONIO PADRÓN MUSEUM :
More than a hundred paintings by the local artist are on view in this museum dedicated to his indigenous works. The Pottery Centre ( Centro Alfarero ) in HOYA DE PINEDA, the textile mills in " los Caideros de SAN JOSÉ " and LA MONTAÑA district , where the famous Canarian " timple " ( a musical instrument ) and traditional Canarian knives, exemplifying the very best in Galdensian craftsmanship, can be acquired.
