Gran Canaria stands in the center of the archipel, 83 km west of Fuerteventura and 62 km east of Tenerife. It's a circular island with a horn in the north-east where lies Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, its capital. With 1.532 km², it's the third biggest of the islands, and the most densely populated : there are more than 725.000 inhabitants.
