Presentation of the island of La Palma by ISLA BONITA - rural tourism

The Island of La Palma is the most northwesterly of the Canary-Islands. It's well known for its outstanding forests and its impressive beauty spots. Its area is of 700 km², with the highest peak at 2.426 m, and has a population of 80.000 inhabitants.

La Palma has, on one hand, high green mountains, plenty of water and great floral wealth, and on the other hand, several volcanic cones, lava outflows and dykes, which are a reminder of the volcanic origins of the island.

La Palma culture is filled with architecture, cuisine, craftsmanship and folk traditions, some of which come to us from the first people of the Canary Islands (Los Guanches).

The tranquility of the island, together with points of interest like the National Park of La Caldera de Taburiente, the Astronomical Observatory of El Roque de Los Muchachos, El Bosque de Los Tiles (Laurel forest) declared a Biosphere Reserve, the archeological remains (La Zarza and Belmaco caves) give you the opportunity to go on excursions and walk across the thousands of pathes available.

The warmth and hospitality of our people, as well as its idiosyncracies, invite you to enjoy the every day life of the island.

Rural Tourism in La Palma has the intention of bringing you closer to a place were you could rest and also come into contact with the villagers. All this, without mentioning everything that only an island can offer you...

The authenticity of the traditional lodging and the variety of activities available like rambling, sport tourism and environmental information, are part of our Rural Tourism Island offer.
